Do you struggle with mood swings? Or feel so stressed on a day to day basis you’ve forgotten what it feel like to be relaxed and happy? Your mood is a changeable state of your emotional being. Moods are meant to come and go and change but not necessarily on a dime and not as an unpredictable rollercoaster. Your moods aren’t supposed to run you and feel uncontrollable, yet for many people that’s exactly their daily experience.

An emotion lasts roughly 90-120 seconds, prolonged emotion sets the stage for your mood. We are designed to have a variety of emotions and be able to respond fluidly and with relative ease. We are not designed to feel one particular emotion all that time and that includes happiness. Depending on your emotional state your nervous system can either be in a state of thrive or a state of survive. Both states have a very direct influence on your mood and your health.

It’s important to note that your mood is influenced by more than just your emotional state. What you eat, how you think, and how you move have everything to do with the balance you feel or don’t feel on a daily basis. I hope that the articles in this section will help you begin to understand the direct relationship between food and mood, movement and mood, and your thoughts and your mood.
