One easy way to get your five fruits and vegetables a day is to throw them altogether into this fantastic smoothie. I love this recipe.
The combination of fruits and veggies is very complementary and the texture and taste is fun and delicious. It literally takes me about 5 to 10 minutes to make tops; that includes cleanup. I can whip up my fruits and veggies and be out the door with a fantastic ‘meal’ in a matter of minutes. In my opinion smoothies are better than juice because you are getting all of the nutrients and fiber that you would by eating the whole fruit or vegetable.
1 medium Banana 1 c. Blueberries 1 handful of fresh Spinach 2 to 3 leaves of fresh Kale, minced (should equal about 2 cups when chopped up) 2 Clementine tangerines or 1 small, sweet orange ½ c. fresh Parsley, minced 1 tbsp Flax Seeds (be sure to use Flax Seeds and not Flax Seed Oil) ¼ c. Plain Yogurt 1 to 1 ½ cup of water Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
Options: I also add different ingredients to support my body when necessary. Sometimes I will throw in some Maca powder or Shatavari root, if my schedule has been hectic or I’m feeling stressed out. You can also switch the fruit combination up, although I’ve done quite a bit of experimenting and find this to be the most delicious combination for my tastes.
