Integrated bodywork is an holistic approach to bodywork. A practitioner using an integrated approach will work intuitively using a variety of modalities during a given session. Working always from the premise that everything in the body is interrelated and tracking patterns that lead to discomfort.
Physical pain often has an emotional component and vice versa. Rarely, if ever, does physical pain affect only one area of the body. An integrated bodywork practitioner will be able to help you back to health physically and energetically.
Massage, Bodywork, Energetic and Somatic Therapies are all examples of ways to work with the body. Some modalities involve intensive physical manipulation or manipulation of soft tissue and can provide immediate relief from injury or pain. Other modalities, such as energy therapies work more subtly yet provide lasting results.
Process Oriented Bodywork
Process oriented bodywork (POB) is more concerned with looking at the body as a representation of what is going on in your life. What events have shaped you, your posture and your attitude. Chronic aches and pains even constant accident and injury can be your body and your unconscious mind trying to tell you something.
Process oriented bodywork may or may not include massage. Since it is more focused on how the body and mind are working together, there are times when massage is not the most informative form of bodywork. The focus of POB is to find the "messages" that have unconsciously encoded into your bodymap and provide an alternate and more conscious message to those that have manifested into non-supported beliefs and ideas and therefore postures and structural patterns.
A process oriented bodyworker can help read the signs and signals of your body and help get you back on the path to health and wellness.
Process oriented bodywork is usually done in several sessions and has a goal of creating insight and awareness as well as addressing physical discomforts.
Grief, trauma recovery, emotional imbalance such as depression or anxiety, are all issues that can be addressed with process oriented bodywork.
