It seems that almost every week there is new information in the media about “nutrition”. Whether it is a new diet plan or a newly discovered isolated gene or a nutrient that squelches your appetite, the factoid becomes big news for a little while, maybe a book gets written about it and then it goes on the shelf with all of the other “diet” and “nutritional” information from weeks and years past. For the typical consumer it can be at best a confusing myriad of information, at worst a danger to the body.

How did we get so far away from knowing how and what to eat?

The adage “You are what you eat” is true in more ways than one. The food you eat is information as well as the foundational material for every aspect of your physical body. Imagine trying to build a house with no materials. It just couldn’t happen. Everything you eat is part of an intricate communication process for your body to maintain health and balance. If you are eating food products that are overly processed and have no real nutritional value then your body is unable to communicate effectively within itself and breakdown will occur.

While figuring out what to eat is a good part of the journey to whole health, it’s not the entirety of it. It’s also good to try to pay attention to when you eat, how/how much you eat, why you eat, even where you eat. Remember there are really no hard and fast rules for every single body because people are unique. That’s why food coaching and nutritional consultation can be so helpful if you are stuck. In the meantime within this website you will find some pretty good guidelines to follow to help you on the road to WholeSelf Health.
